USDT Withdrawal Fees, Compared for Real: Same Coin, 200x Difference Across Chains
Actual USDT withdrawal fees, minimum withdrawal amounts, and confirmation times across 12 chains (with sources and snapshot date), plus why the other four exchanges have no data yet.
USDT Withdrawal Fees, Compared for Real: Same Coin, 200x Difference Across Chains
Bottom line first: Withdrawing the same 1000 USDT can cost 200x more depending on the chain you pick. The cheapest route we measured is BEP20 / Morph (0.01 USDT); the most expensive is ERC20 (2 USDT). But expensive doesn't mean worse, and cheap doesn't mean better — confirmation time, whether the destination exchange supports the chain, and whether you have to fill in a memo are what decide whether your funds actually arrive.
Measured data (snapshot date 2026-10-12)
Below are the USDT withdrawal parameters returned by the Bitget public API (one single fetch, not modified in any way):
| Chain | Withdrawal fee (USDT) | Minimum withdrawal | Estimated confirmation time | Needs memo/tag |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BEP20 | 0.01 | 10 | ~60 minutes | No |
| Morph | 0.01 | 10 | ~96 minutes | No |
| Plasma | 0.012 | 10 | ~200 minutes | No |
| Optimism | 0.014 | 10 | ~50 minutes | No |
| Aptos | 0.03 | 10 | ~10 minutes | No |
| AVAXC-Chain | 0.04 | 10 | ~60 minutes | No |
| Polygon | 0.07 | 10 | ~300 minutes | No |
| ArbitrumOne | 0.1 | 10 | ~12 minutes | No |
| TON | 0.15 | 10 | ~10 minutes | No |
| SOL | 0.5 | 10 | ~5 minutes | No |
| TRC20 | 1.5 | 10 | ~3 minutes | No |
| ERC20 | 2 | 10 | ~96 minutes | No |
Confirmation time is an estimate derived from the block confirmations required on that chain (roughly 5 minutes per confirmation); it is not a measured time-to-arrival. Actual arrival also depends on network congestion and the destination exchange's crediting policy.
Three counterintuitive points
- Cheapest isn't always fastest: BEP20 costs just 0.01 but waits about 1 hour; Aptos costs 3x more (0.03) yet takes only about 10 minutes. Small amount, no rush → pick the cheap one; need it now → pick the fast one.
- Most expensive isn't always safest: ERC20 charges 2 USDT (200x more than BEP20) but needs 96 minutes to confirm — worst on both cost and speed. Its only reason for being expensive is the historical and current cost of the Ethereum mainnet.
- Don't look only at the sending side: whether the destination exchange supports this chain, and whether the deposit needs extra confirmations, is what decides whether you get your funds. Assets sent on the wrong chain usually can't be recovered, and this is the single worst class of loss for retail users.
Our data gaps (stated honestly)
Only Bitget's withdrawal fees can be fetched automatically here (the public API returns them directly). Binance, OKX, Gate, and Bybit don't expose withdrawal fees on a public endpoint, and we won't fill those in with an "industry average" or a guess, so those four show as "not collected" in our comparison until we complete a monthly manual micro-test.
This is also how this site divides the work: automate what can be automated, label honestly what can't.
Next steps
- Use the deposit/withdrawal path tool to work out the route that works for you by your country and amount (fees, timing, whether a memo is needed)
- Run the transfer self-check before any transfer: chain mismatch / missing memo / below minimum / suspected contract address — all four fatal error types get stopped
- To see each exchange's full cost (trading fee + funding fee + withdrawal fee + slippage): use the total cost calculator
